What is design?
- The basic units of visual image
- The principles of design govern the relationships of the elements used and organize composition as a whole.
- All imagery art and photography alike, are comprised of elements
Design elements:
- Space: Can exist in 2 or 3 dimensions, can be positive or negative. Can refer to foreground mid or background elements.
- Line: Used in most art work.
- Color: Used to draw eye. Make something stand out. Very important.
- Shape: Helps identify. Can be realistic, organic or geometric.
- Texture: Give a business card a type of feeling on it. Used in comic books.
- Value: Helps elution of depth. Shading. For light and dark areas.
Design Principles:
- Unity: Create a sense of order, a consistency in size and shape. Proximity can create a sense of unity it can also show a lack of unity
- Variety: Element.
- Repetition: Used all the time.
- Harmony: things in place
- Proximity: Look at one place for all information on a business card.

Part C - Short writing assignment
Three primary colors are red, yellow and blue. If you mix these colors you get secondary colors like purple, orange and green. If you mis secondary colors you will end up with trertiary colors. There is two different types of color. additive and subtractive color. The difference between these two types of color is that additive colors use primary colors light colors and subtractive colors is mixing dyes, inks, paint, pigments its darker because it takes the light away. Additive color takes light in.
Color can affect our perception by it's angle. We can see two colors that are exactly the same but its angle can make us think its a different color. One color can affect another by the lighting it's shadow can affect how the color looks. Putting a medium color next to a dark color would make it look lighter.
